Immigration Grants Clearance to MSC Magnifica

The Maldives Immigration has granted clearance for the cruise liner MSC Magnifica, which is currently anchored outside Malé.

According to Maldives Immigration, clearance services were provided to the vessel following its departure from Fremantle-Perth, Australia, on 27 March. The ship arrived in Malé on 3 April.

The cruise liner is reported to be carrying a total of 2,818 individuals, comprising 1,866 passengers and 952 crew members.

Maldives Immigration further stated that this journey marks the longest trip for which seaport en-route clearance has been issued, with the vessel having crossed from the Pacific Ocean into the Indian Ocean.

Recent data from the Ministry of Tourism indicates that 667,730 tourists have arrived in the Maldives so far this year, reflecting an approximate four percent increase compared to the same period last year. Of the total arrivals, 69.5 percent have stayed in tourist resorts.
