India Dismisses Report Alleging Maldivian Opposition Sought RAW’s Assistance
India has denied allegations reported by The Washington Post claiming that the opposition in the Maldives sought assistance from India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) to overthrow the administration of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
During the Ministry of External Affairs’ weekly press conference, a reporter questioned the ministry regarding the claims made in the article.
In response, Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal criticised both the publication and the journalist behind the report, stating, “Both the newspaper and reporter in question, appear to nurse a compulsive hostility towards India. You can see a pattern in their activities. I leave you to judge their credibility. As far as we are concerned, they have none.”
This marks the first official statement from India addressing the Washington Post’s report. The government of the Maldives has not yet commented on the matter.
