Infant Found Deceased in a Bag in Dhigurah Landfill

An abandoned newborn was discovered in ADh. Dhigurah this morning, as reported to authorities at approximately 9:20 am.
The infant was found inside a bag in Dhigurah’s landfill. Medical examinations confirmed the baby’s demise at the time of discovery.

Maldives Police Services reported that local law enforcement is actively investigating the case in Dhigurah. No additional details have been disclosed, and updates will be provided to the media as the investigation progresses, according to the Police.
Dhigurah Council President Ibrahim Usman stated that the baby was in a bag of waste collected from households and guesthouses on the island. The waste management centre, responsible for daily waste disposal efforts, reported the discovery to the Council, alerting the police.
The gender of the baby and whether it was born prematurely remain unknown.
