Islamic Minister Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed travels to Saudi Arabia to participate in the Hajj and Umrah Conference and formalise an agreement with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah on services.

The upcoming Hajj and Umrah Conference, scheduled to take place in Jeddah from January 8th to January 11th, promises to be a significant event featuring various scientific sessions, workshops, and training seminars.

Minister Shaheem, sharing details of the trip on Facebook, mentioned that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has directed efforts to enhance services for local Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. During his visit, the Minister intends to engage in discussions with relevant authorities to advance these services.

Additionally, Minister Shaheem expressed plans to visit religious institutions and meet with the leaders of Islamic nations and organisations on the sidelines of the conference. The objective is to explore opportunities for technical and financial cooperation in support of the Islamic Ministry’s initiatives.

It is worth noting that the new administration has taken the decision to allocate all official quotas received by the Maldives from Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj pilgrimage to the Maldives Hajj Corporation.
