Islamic Ministry Reports 39 Foreigners Convert to Islam in Maldives
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has reported that 39 foreigners have converted to Islam in the past eight months.
This announcement was made during the Ministry’s Media Exhibition 2024, an event aimed at showcasing the Ministry’s activities to the public.
According to the statistics disclosed at the exhibition, the converts hail from various countries, including:
- Eight from the Philippines
- Five from India
- Four from Nepal
- Three each from Indonesia, Russia, Italy, Thailand, and Sri Lanka
- Two each from Vietnam and Germany
- One each from Spain, Malaysia, and Japan
The exhibition highlighted the Islamic Ministry’s various undertakings. Among these are weekly rehabilitation programmes conducted at prisons, with 98 programmes held so far this year.
Additionally, the Ministry has organised religious lectures at mosques in both the Male’ area and the atolls, including sessions specifically for Bangladeshi nationals in Male’.
The Media Exhibition 2024 will continue until 6:00 pm today.
