Jeehan Appointed to Chair of IPU Human Rights and Democracy Committee

Hinnavaru MP Jeehan Mahmood has been chosen to spearhead the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Human Rights and Democracy Committee. 

The primary objective of this committee is to advocate for and reinforce democratic principles while ensuring the protection of human rights on a global scale.

Jeehan’s tenure as the Chair will extend until March 2025.

Jeehan also holds the role of Chairman of the Human Rights and Gender Committee within the Parliament.  Previously, she served as a member of the Maldives Human Rights Commission (HRCM), highlighting a background dedicated to human rights advocacy and governance.
