Land Reclamation Project to be Complete Before Next Year-End, Announces President-elect Muizzu

In his address at the Social Center, last night, President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu unveiled plans for a land reclamation project aimed at addressing housing shortages in the Maldives.

Muizzu’s election victory was marked by a promise to prioritise housing solutions for the Maldivian populace, and he reiterated his determination to fulfill this pledge within the next five years.
Muizzu has set a target of providing housing for 65,000 residents within the Male’ area over the next five years, drawing from locations such as Fushidhiggaru and Gulhifalhu in the Male’ region.
Muizzu emphasised that his administration is committed to ensuring housing equity for every citizen across all the islands of the Maldives, leaving no one behind.
In addition to addressing housing needs, Muizzu highlighted the importance of balanced development by focusing on both larger and smaller populated islands. He pledged to assemble a dedicated and proactive team to spearhead these developmental initiatives.
“We will establish a highly active cabinet comprised of educated and experienced individuals who are willing to work tirelessly to achieve our goals,” affirmed Muizzu
As he reiterated his campaign promises during the address, Muizzu expressed gratitude to the electorate for their trust and support. He extended his appreciation to all citizens, regardless of their voting choices, highlighting his commitment to serving all Maldivians without discrimination.
