Leading Neurosurgeon Dr. Ali Niyaf Leaves ADK Hospital To Join IGMH

Dr. Ali Niyaf, the first and most prominent neurosurgeon in the Maldives, has departed from the privately-owned ADK Hospital after a tenure of nearly a decade.

In a message posted on the social media platform X today, the management and staff of ADK Hospital expressed their heartfelt gratitude and best wishes to Dr. Niyaf.

“As you begin a new chapter, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your outstanding dedication and hard work over the past 9 years and 10 months,” the post read, highlighting Dr. Niyaf’s critical role in the success of the hospital’s neurosurgery department.

During his time at ADK, Dr. Ali Niyaf led a transformative change in neurosurgery operations in the Maldives. He performed the first live spinal surgery in the country and conducted several aneurysm surgeries. Additionally, he initiated the annual Brain and Spine Conference in 2019 and contributed to various scientific journals.

Dr. Niyaf’s is now reportedly set to join the public Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Commenting on the farewell post, his brother and notable paediatrician Dr. Abdulla Niyaf wished his brother success and hinted at the promising future of the neurosurgery at IGMH.

“May you succeed wherever you go. May neurosurgery at IGMH achieve many successes,” he wrote.
