A significant aspect of the cost-saving measures includes plans to enhance efficiency in electricity consumption, with Shareef stating that new generator sets will reduce fuel consumption for electricity generation by at least 20 percent within the next 15 days. Despite being one of the largest contributors to state revenue and employing over 4,000 staff members, Shareef reassured that these measures will not entail staff reductions or salary cuts.

Additionally, MACL is set to transition towards becoming a paperless entity within the coming year, ceasing the procurement of new printers as part of efforts to reduce paper costs. The company also plans to curtail expenditure on consumables by 10 to 15 percent.

Shareef underscored further initiatives, including revising travel policies to optimize costs and exploring negotiations with airlines for more favorable agreements on ticketing and travel arrangements. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to scrutinize and minimize water wastage and internal operating expenses.

Looking ahead, Shareef indicated that MACL is considering organizational restructuring to achieve sustained operational efficiencies and is actively pursuing discussions to mitigate banking charges. The company remains committed to expanding commercial space and enhancing revenue streams as part of its long-term strategic goals.

MACL’s proactive measures reflect a concerted effort to navigate current economic challenges while maintaining operational integrity and service excellence within the aviation sector.
