The agreement outlines the policies to be followed for the Hajj season, including payment procedures, the responsibilities of Maldivian Hajj service providers, and the establishment of the Maldives’ Hajj mission to oversee Maldivian pilgrims.
This annual agreement is signed ahead of the Islamic Hajj month each year to ensure optimal arrangements and services for Maldivian pilgrims. The Maldives government continues to make efforts to enhance the Hajj experience and provide quality services for pilgrims. Additionally, the government aims to increase the number of Hajj quotas for the Maldives, in line with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to raise the quota to 2,000 slots.
In addition to signing the agreement, Minister Shaheem held discussions with Dr Thaufeeq Bin Fauzaan on further improving Hajj services. He thanked Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdul Aziz for his efforts in serving the two Holy Lands and expressed gratitude to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his commitment to serving pilgrims worldwide. Minister Shaheem also highlighted President Muizzu’s aim to strengthen the relationship between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia.
Minister Dr Thaufeeq acknowledged the importance the Maldives government places on Hajj-related matters and thanked the government for its continued efforts.
