Maldives Blood Services Changes Its Service Hours

The Maldives Blood Services (MBS) has revised its service hours effective from today.
According to the government, from today onwards, MBS will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. from Saturday through Thursday.
Services Hours from MBC
Haemoglobin test:
From 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. from Saturday through Thursday
Sample collection for cross-matching test:
From 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. from Saturday through Wednesday
From 8:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. on Thursdays
Thalassaemia screening:
From 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 pm
Issuing of Thalassaemia Cards:
From 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Blood Collection from Donors:
From 8:00 a.m to 7:45 p.m
Apheresis blood donation is from 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Blood Transfusion:
1 unit: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (all ages)
2 units: 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (all ages)
Additionally, doctor consultations will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Recently, after protests from Thalassaemia patients and their family members regarding sub-par services at the National Thalassaemia Centre, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced his plans to revamp the institution to offer improved and more compassionate services. Additionally, he said that once the center is relocated to “Orange Hiya” in Hulhumale, bus fare will be exempted for thalassaemia patients.
