Maldives-India High-Level Core Group Holds Inaugural Meeting

The first meeting of the Maldives-India High-Level Core Group took place yesterday at the Maldives’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The newly established group provides a platform for discussions on implementing the vision set by the leaders of both nations during President Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to India at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Representatives from both countries engaged in discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors. Key areas of focus included economic collaboration, healthcare cooperation, digital finance, and maritime security.
Efforts were directed towards exploring trade and investment opportunities, enhancing financial connectivity through digital payment systems, and strengthening joint initiatives in medical services and pharmaceutical trade. Maritime security in the Indian Ocean region was also highlighted as a priority.
As part of the commitment to furthering Maldives-India relations, the second meeting of the High-Level Core Group is scheduled to take place in India in April 2025.
