Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has granted clearance for a tourist yacht to enter the Maldives via the ISPS gate in Ihavandhippolhu Atoll, the country’s northernmost region, according to the company’s CEO, Mohamed Wajeeh.

In a Facebook post, Wajeeh stated that the International Ship and Port Security (ISPS) Gate in Ihavandhippolhu facilitated the entry of the yacht, which was carrying tourists. He added that MPL has made arrangements to service yachts arriving in the country during the ongoing peak tourist season.

The northern ISPS gate, inaugurated in September, was established to offer maritime services to vessels traversing the northern Maldives. This area has been identified as a strategic and secure zone for international maritime traffic. As part of its long-term plans, MPL also aims to provide offshore bunkering services in the region, further enhancing its maritime infrastructure.
