Male’ City Council has launched a comprehensive effort to repair and maintain mosques in the Greater Male’ area in preparation for Ramadan, which is expected to commence on 1 March.
The council has focused on repairing and cleaning mosques across Male’ and Hulhumale’. Notable progress includes replacing the minbar at Masjid-Al-Azeeza Moosa in Hulhumale’, which had sustained damage from termites. Concurrently, cleaning and repair work is underway at Masjid-Al-Amaany, the first mosque built in Hulhumale’.
Enhancements are also being made at other mosques. Trees are being planted at Masjid Al Saany in Hulhumale’, while bathroom doors and tiles have been replaced at Masjid-Al-Hahthaab. The ablution area at the mosque has also been repaired. At Masjid-Al-Taqwa, the prayer area has been expanded, and plans are in place to construct an additional bathroom.
Further, a private entity has pledged to install air-conditioning units at Furqan Mosque. This installation is anticipated to be completed before the start of Ramadan.
In addition to mosque renovations, the council is addressing issues that affect pedestrian convenience by removing improperly placed pallets from streets.
The initiative highlights the council’s commitment to ensuring that places of worship are well-maintained and accessible during the holy month.
