One of the 12 men arrested last year in connection with a kidnapping and attempted mutilation inside a Hiyaa flat has been taken into custody once again, this time on suspicion of robbery.
Hassan Ghalib, 38, from Kolhufushi in Meemu Atoll, was arrested in relation to a recent theft. The Criminal Court has ordered that he remain in remand for 15 days as investigations continue.
Ghalib was previously arrested on 7 November 2024 following a violent incident in Apartment 11 on the 20th floor of Hiyaa Flat H9. In that case, a group of 12 individuals allegedly abducted a man, forcibly shaved his head, and attempted to sever one of his fingers. Police officers later forced entry into the locked apartment and detained all suspects at the scene.
Although all 12 suspects were initially held in custody, they were subsequently released after the case was submitted for prosecution.
