MIFCO Expands Ice Plant Capacity in Gadhdhoo

The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has announced an upgrade to the ice plant in GDh. Gadhdhoo, increasing its capacity from 25 to 50 tons per day.

In a statement issued today, MIFCO revealed that the Gadhdhoo ice plant is now capable of producing 50 tons of ice flakes daily. The company noted that, unlike other plants, the ice flakes at Gadhdhoo will be available in buckets, which is intended to provide greater convenience for local fishermen.

MIFCO currently operates a total of five ice plants across the country, located as follows:

  • Hoarafushi: 25 tons (ice flakes)
  • Maduvvari: 25 tons (ice flakes)
  • Gaafaru: 25 tons (ice flakes)
  • Gadhdhoo: 50 tons (ice flakes)
  • Thinadhoo: 50 tons (ice flakes)
  • Fuvahmulah: 25 tons (ice flakes)

Additionally, MIFCO manages three fisheries complexes:

  • Felivaru Fisheries Complex: 100 tons (ice blocks)
  • Kooddoo Fisheries Complex: 80 tons (ice blocks)
  • Addu Fisheries Complex: 50 tons (ice flakes)

The company also announced that it is finalising preparations to take over the management of 18 ice plants currently operated by Fenaka Corporation.
