In his address, Minister Adam Naseer stressed that the project is aimed at reclaiming the unity and identity of the Maldivian people, which he believes has been gradually eroding. He pointed to historical instances where unity safeguarded the Maldives from threats, urging citizens to remain united as they face future challenges.

The Minister also touched on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s efforts to revive the values held by the nation’s ancestors. He affirmed that the President places a strong emphasis on restoring national unity and promoting a “Maldives for the Maldivians.”

The National Day of the Maldives, celebrated annually on the 1st of Rabi’-Al-Awwal, commemorates the nation’s liberation from Portuguese rule. During the ceremony, Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef called on Maldivians to reflect on the historic victories achieved, which brought an end to one of the longest periods of foreign military occupation in the country’s history.

The event, rich in symbolism, underscored the ongoing efforts to reconnect with the nation’s roots while fostering a strong sense of patriotism and solidarity among Maldivians.
