Ministry and HDC Discuss Progress on Rasmale’ Land Reclamation Project

The Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure, in collaboration with the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), convened yesterday to review the progress of the Rasmale’ land reclamation project, the largest initiative under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration.

The meeting, which centred on the project’s implementation, was attended by Infrastructure Minister Dr. Abdulla Muthalib and Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed from HDC. During the session, the ministry provided an update on the current status of the project, while both parties discussed future plans for its completion.

In efforts to accelerate progress, they explored methods to expedite the project while ensuring that quality standards are upheld throughout its execution. Additionally, discussions focused on the potential benefits for the public and the broader development of the Malé area once the project is completed.

The Rasmale’ land reclamation project, which began physical work on December 18th, involves reclaiming 1,153 hectares of land. Initially, the government aimed to finish the project within eight months.
