The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has officially become a member of the Belt and Road Initiative Tax Administration Cooperation Mechanism (BRITACOM) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

During the signing ceremony, Zareer emphasised the significance of MIRA’s involvement in BRITACOM, pointing to the collaborative opportunities it offers for tax authorities across the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) region. He noted that by working together, member nations can address shared challenges and strengthen tax systems. Zareer further stressed the importance of fostering both regional and international cooperation to build robust and efficient tax frameworks.

Through its participation in BRITACOM, MIRA aims to enhance its tax administration capabilities by taking advantage of the resources and opportunities available through this platform. BRITACOM, which was established to foster collaboration among tax authorities in BRI countries, provides technical support, training programmes, discussion forums, and insights from more developed nations. MIRA employees will be able to access these resources to improve their operations and further strengthen the authority’s overall efficiency.
