Missing Fishing Boat Found, Crew Rescued Safely

A fishing vessel from M. Maduvvari, reported missing on Friday night, has been successfully located, according to the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF). All three crew members have been confirmed safe.

The boat, named “Farihi 2”, disappeared after departing from Maduvvari on Friday for a fishing trip near M. Raiymandhoo.

The boat was found with its engine broken 23 nautical miles outside Raiymandhoo, MNDF said in a post on X.

MNDF deployed coast guard vessels and the Air Corps drones to aid in the search efforts yesterday. This marks the first time drones, which were acquired just last month, have been utilised in a search and rescue operation.
