The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has commenced the distribution of the SIFCO flats to their rightful recipients.
In a significant ceremony, Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant General Abdulla Shamal and Vice Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef initiated the formal handover of keys to the beneficiaries.
The initial batch of keys was presented to the beneficiaries of flats in Tower A, affording them the opportunity to explore their new apartments.
Completing these housing units, intended for military and police personnel, began in 2013. However, the project faced an interruption when the contract was terminated by the previous government in 2016 following the public disclosure of the list of flat recipients.
In total, the project encompasses 691 housing units, divided between 330 flats at SIFCO and 361 flats at POLCO. These residential towers offer luxurious three-room apartments, each spanning an impressive 1,100 square feet of living space.
