The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has postponed the ‘Walk of Honour’ parade, originally scheduled for last evening, as part of the Maldives’ 59th Independence Day celebrations.

In a post on X, the MNDF announced that the parade has been rescheduled to 2nd August due to adverse weather conditions.

As a result of this postponement, the planned motorised vehicle ban in Malé from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm will no longer take effect.

The flag hoisting ceremony, also part of the Independence Day celebrations, was cancelled due to the inclement weather.
