This collaboration addresses the growing need for skilled professionals as the Maldives seeks to meet international environmental standards.

The Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol mandates an 80% reduction in the use of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) by 2045, presenting challenges that require updated training in alternative solutions, including flammable gases.

The MoU outlines plans for developing training programmes, procuring materials, and initiating refrigerant recycling efforts. It also provides trainers at the Polytechnic with opportunities to learn about emerging technologies.

Overall, this agreement aims to enhance the capacity of technicians, create job opportunities, and ensure future workers are licensed in the sector, contributing to the growth of the refrigeration and air conditioning servicing industry in the Maldives.
