Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has opened applications for its Women’s Apprentice Program, offering career opportunities in various technical trades, including welding, carpentry, and marine mechanics.

The program is open to women aged 18 to 35 to encourage female participation in the workforce. In collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts, the apprenticeship programme covers seven key fields. A total of 18 participants will be selected, with the following positions available:
– Welding – 4 posts
– Carpenter – 2 posts
– Machinist – 2 posts
– Marine Mechanic (Marine Engineering) – 2 posts
– Electrician (Electrical Engineering) – 3 posts
– Mechanic (Vehicle Repair) – 2 posts
– Air Conditioning & Refrigeration – 3 posts
Participants will receive a monthly allowance of MVR 5000 for a duration of six months while gaining hands-on experience and certified skills. The initiative aims to empower women and enhance their career prospects in traditionally male-dominated fields.
MPL has previously run apprenticeship programmes, with some past participants securing permanent positions within the company.
