Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) Faruhadh Fukury and Ismail Naveen have been elevated to the position of Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) as part of recent administrative changes within the Maldives Police Service.

This promotion comes following the resignation of Abdul Mannan Yoosuf and Ali Rasheed, the previous holders of the DCP positions, under the new administration.

The official ceremony for the appointment took place at Iskandar Koshi on Friday, where Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan presented Faruhadh and Naveen with their letters of appointment as DCPs.

Faruhadh Fukury, who has been with the Maldives Police Service since March 30, 1991, boasts 32 years of experience within the force. Over the years, he has demonstrated versatility by serving in various capacities across different specializations, including leadership roles in operations and administrative support. Prior to his promotion, Faruhadh held the position of acting-Head of Operation Support Command and People’s Directorate.

Similarly, Ismail Naveen, appointed as DCP, commenced his tenure with the force on July 7, 1994, accumulating 29 years of service. Like Faruhadh, Naveen has a diverse background within the force, having held leadership positions in operations and administrative support. Before his promotion, he served as the Head of Corporate Services Directorate.

It is worth noting that Naveen had previously applied for the position of police commissioner, albeit unsuccessfully. The Police Board had recommended Ali Shujau, the incumbent commissioner, for the post instead.

Following the ceremony, Minister Ali Ihusan expressed confidence in Faruhadh and Naveen, emphasising their pivotal role in the development and security goals of the Maldives Police Service. He extended his congratulations to both individuals on their well-deserved appointments.
