MSS Announces Maritime Scholarships for Young Maldivians

The Maldives State Shipping Company Private Limited (MSS) has announced the availability of two maritime scholarships, aiming to encourage young Maldivians to pursue careers in the maritime industry.

Offered under the MSS scholarship programme, ‘Kalaaseen’, the scholarships provide an opportunity to study at diploma level in Malaysia. The two courses available through the programme are the Diploma in Nautical Studies and the Diploma in Marine Engineering.

Applicants aged between 18 and 25 must meet certain entry requirements, including a minimum of five IGCSE ‘O’ Level credits, being physically and mentally fit, and having good eyesight. According to MSS, the course duration is three years and four months, with recipients required to serve at the company for at least 18 months upon completing the programme.

The deadline for applications is 21 January.
