In a recent session of the ‘Raees ge Javaabu’ (President’s Answer) series, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu reiterated the government’s dedication to fulfilling its promise of offering accommodation to individuals who were initially promised Hiyaa flats but did not receive them. Responding to a query from Mohamed Shuhail of Madaveli, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, President Muizzu reaffirmed the commitment made during the presidential election campaign.
He assured that individuals who did not receive shelter flats would be accommodated under the government’s inaugural social housing project.
The previous administration had disqualified certain recipients of Hiyaa flats, resulting in the confiscation of their allocated flats. During his campaign, President Muizzu vowed to rectify this situation by providing housing to those who were denied Hiya flats.
In a bid to enhance living standards within the Hiyaa towers, the government has initiated several measures, including the reduction of flat rents and the commencement of additional elevator installations.
