President Dr Mohamed Muizzu attended the Liverpool FC vs Everton Merseyside derby yesterday evening, kicking off the Maldives tourism promotion campaign with Liverpool Football Club.
This co-branded collaboration between the football club and the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC)/Visit Maldives goes beyond visibility, aiming to boost visitor arrivals, enhance global presence, and generate significant economic benefits for the Maldives.
On 13 March, MMPRC/Visit Maldives announced its role as the “Official Tourist Destination Partner” of Liverpool FC. This partnership launches a global campaign spanning three and a half years, designed to amplify brand awareness and inspire more travellers to visit the Maldives.

Strengthening this initiative, Visit Maldives rolled out an extensive outdoor campaign in the UK on 27 March to attract visitors through its collaboration with Liverpool FC. This three-month campaign leverages high-impact outdoor and digital advertising across key UK locations. More than 100 fully branded taxis in London, along with advertisements on buses, the London Underground, major airports, and business-class lounges, maximise exposure to potential travellers.
LED signage at Premier League home matches, branding across the stadium, features in LFC’s official booklets, and billboards across Europe will target high-value travellers, providing unparalleled global visibility.

The President is accompanied by Thoriq Ibrahim, Minister of Tourism and Environment; Abdulla Rafiu, Minister of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation; Ibrahim Shiuree, Managing Director of MMPRC; and other senior government officials.
