Muizzu Names Major General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef as Chief of Defence Force

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, in his capacity as the Commander-in-Chief of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), has announced the appointment of Major General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef as the new Chief of Defence Force. 

This decision comes in the wake of the retirement of the former Chief of Defence Force, Lieutenant General Abdulla Shamaal.

In a formal ceremony held at the President’s Office yesterday evening, Major General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef received his letter of appointment, marking the official commencement of his duties at the state minister level.

Major General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef now assumes the responsibilities of leading the MNDF.
