Muizzu Orders Dismissal of Over 220 Political Appointees
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced the dismissal of 228 political appointees across various government ministries.
This decision is part of the government’s Economic Reform Agenda, aimed at reducing costs.
As part of the Economic Reform Agenda, as a direct cost cut down measure, I have today instructed to remove 228 political appointees from various government ministries within the next 15 days. In a statement made today, Muizzu outlined that the cuts will include seven State Ministers, 43 Deputy Ministers, 109 Senior Political Directors, and 69 Political Directors.
The measures are expected to result in savings of MVR 5.714 million per month from the government budget. Muizzu has instructed that these dismissals be implemented within the next 15 days.
