Speaking to a gathered crowd, Dr. Muizzu emphasised the critical role housing plays in the country’s social fabric and overall prosperity.
Dr. Muizzu highlighted that housing has emerged as one of the foremost social challenges in Maldives. In his address, he stated that prosperity can only be achieved by ensuring equitable access to housing opportunities.
To that end, he pledged to integrate housing initiatives with efforts to strengthen the nation’s economy, acknowledging its current fragile state.
“Housing stands as the most pressing social problem confronting the people of Maldives, and it cannot be resolved through the construction of a few flats alone,” Dr. Mohamed Muizzu declared.
He promised to provide a lasting solution to the housing crisis under his leadership, emphasising the importance of a comprehensive approach.
One noteworthy aspect of Dr. Muizzu’s address was his commitment to reviewing existing regulations. In response to concerns about residents being required to vacate properties with less than 600 sq. ft.
He stated that the laws would be examined and amended as necessary to ensure fairness and stability for property owners.
