Ministry of Finance and Planning

The Ministry of Finance, which has been restructured as the Ministry of Finance and Planning, will now oversee land utilisation, urban development, national development planning, and statistics—responsibilities that were previously managed by the Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development.

Following the dissolution of the Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development, the Maldives Bureau of Statistics will now operate under the Ministry of Finance and Planning, effective immediately. All correspondence to the Ministry of Finance and Planning will now use number 13.

Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Infrastructure

The Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure has been merged with the Ministry of Housing to form the new Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Infrastructure. The ministry will now be responsible for carrying out social housing projects and formulating housing policies, including those related to social housing. Communications directed to this ministry will now use number 491.

Additional changes were also made to the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare with the appointment of Dr. Maryam Mariya, formerly the Minister of Higher Education, as the new Minister.

The appointment letters were formally presented to the Cabinet Ministers during the ceremony held at the President’s Office on Thursday morning. After taking their oaths, the President met with the ministers and encouraged them to structure the operations of the newly restructured ministries in a way that minimizes disruption for staff being transferred.
