President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has made the decision to award documents confirming land registries to individuals who were allocated plots from unreclaimed areas in Gulhifalhu and Giraavaarufalhu.

The announcement was made by Sunadh Mohamed Latheef, representing the Male’ Rahvehinge Association (Male’ Residents’ Association), Hulhumale’ Rayyithunge Committee (Hulhumale’ Citizens’ Committee), Gulhifalhu Rayyithunge Association (Gulhifalhu Residents’ Association), and Giraavaru Male’ Citizens’ Association during a meeting hosted by the Male’ Rahvehinge Association for land recipients on Saturday night.

During the meeting, Muizzu assured that the documents would be handed over to the land recipients. Sunadh provided a summary of the meeting, stating that Muizzu had also committed to exploring ways to expedite the process of handing over the land registries and undertaking necessary efforts in this direction.

Mohamed Firuzul, the President’s Office’s Undersecretary for Public Policy, who participated in the meeting as a representative of the president, highlighted the rapid progress in the reclamation of the pending locations. He mentioned that 50 or 54 hectares from Giraavarufalhu and 94 hectares from Gulhifalhu had been reclaimed as of present.

Under the former administration’s ‘Binveriya’ scheme, a total of 18,955 individuals are eligible for land, and 9,003 land plots will be issued to recipients from Hulhumale’, Gulhifalhu, and Giraavarufalhu. Despite the previous administration’s aim to hand over the registries before the completion of its term, this had not been achieved.
