National Flag to be Displayed Always at Ministerial Residences and Cars

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu declared that the national flag of the Maldives will now adorn the residences and vehicles of government ministers.

During his inauguration speech, President Muizzu expressed the commitment to ensure that the national flag is a perpetual presence, declaring, “The sun will never set on the national flag of the Maldives.”

He underscored the flag’s revered status, stating that it will fly continuously, 24 hours a day, symbolising the honour of the Maldivian people.

This directive extends beyond ministerial residences and vehicles, as government institutions will also see the national flag hoisted around the clock. 

The President’s office issued a statement outlining adjustments to protocols governing the raising and use of the national flag within government entities.

Muizzu asserted the Maldivian flag’s paramount importance, designating it as the supreme symbol of the Maldivian people, both as a nation and a state

Moreover, the President emphasised the need to uphold the flag’s integrity, specifying that any flag showing signs of wear or damage, to an extent that compromises its dignity, will be deemed unfit for use.

In his inaugural address, Muizzu highlighted the significance of a society or country adhering to rules and principles for maintaining independence.
