NDMA initiated damage assessments on Saturday, completing evaluations for the majority of reported cases. The authority stated that 112 homes have been assessed so far, while 13 residences opted out of the process. Assessments for 16 homes remain pending due to various challenges but are expected to be completed by the end of Monday.
Efforts to address the aftermath of the flooding are being conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Social and Family Development and the Maldivian Red Crescent.
In addition to Malé, several islands reported varying degrees of damage to their infrastructure. NDMA is coordinating with respective island councils to assess and address the impact in these areas.
According to NDMA, over 500 locations experienced flooding during the rainfall. The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) responded to 774 requests for assistance, including 554 calls for the installation of sandbag barriers to protect against rising floodwaters.
Furthermore, 53 households reported interruptions to essential services. NDMA conducted rapid assessments for these cases and facilitated temporary shelter for the 226 individuals from the 36 worst-affected homes.
Authorities continue to work on recovery efforts, aiming to mitigate the impact of the flooding and provide support to affected communities.
