According to NDMA, they received reports from 53 houses where flooding had disrupted essential living conditions. Rapid assessments were conducted, revealing that 36 of these houses were temporarily uninhabitable. Consequently, residents were relocated to emergency shelters and are being supplied with food and water.
The NDMA also reported receiving over 400 calls for assistance during the rains, including requests for sandbags to prevent further flooding. Following these appeals, the authority prioritised urgent cases, transferring residents from the 36 most affected homes to temporary accommodation.
The flooding caused considerable disruption to daily life and public infrastructure. Businesses across Malé were forced to close, with some elevators in residential buildings sustaining flood damage. Additionally, many restaurants and cafés ceased delivery services due to the adverse weather conditions.
Efforts to assist affected residents are ongoing, with the NDMA coordinating relief operations to address immediate needs and assess further damage.
