The new school under construction in the second phase of Hulhumale’ is expected to be completed by the end of this year and will begin accepting students for the next academic year, according to the Ministry of Education.

At present, Salahuddin School is the only institution offering education from Grades 1 to 10 in Hulhumale’ Phase II. The increasing population in the area has made it difficult for many families to secure placements, with some parents having to take their children to schools in Phase I or Male’ City.

To address the shortage, the government initiated construction of the new school in December last year. The facility will include 54 classrooms and will accommodate 1,700 students from Grades 1 to 10.

The Ministry of Education has confirmed that the school will be ready to accept students by January 2026, aligning with the start of the new academic year.

The government has outlined plans to build around seven schools in Hulhumale’ as part of efforts to resolve the ongoing placement shortages.
