Next Visit to Dhidhdhoo Would Be to Open the Island’s Airport, Says Muizzu

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu said yesterday that his next visit to Haa Alifu Dhidhdhoo will be on the airport’s maiden flight to inaugurate it officially.
Speaking at Dhidhdhoo on his tour of Haa Alifu atoll, the President stated that developing an airport in Dhihdhoo is an important aspect of regional development.
In his address, the President said that practical work on the project’s commencement was already underway. Discussions with MTCC and foreign parties on reaching a framework agreement to start work on the project were ongoing.
Land reclamation will commence this year, with concurrent projects to follow. Reiterating that the airport project will commence.
He said the development of islands was not based on political ideologies and that they were long-term serious goals.
The President also met with the Island Council and its Women’s Development Committee (WDC) yesterday. They brought to the President’s attention the delay in completing the ice plant and the need to relocate the power plant from the residential area. They also discussed issues relating to the construction of the island harbour and the need for a new council building.
