No Threat to Maldives from Today’s Carlsberg Ridge Earthquake, Says Met Office
The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has confirmed that an earthquake measuring 4.7 in magnitude, which struck the Carlsberg Ridge today, poses no threat to the Maldives.
The seismic event occurred at approximately 12:30 PM this afternoon at a depth of 10 km, located around 912 km from Malé.

An earthquake was reported in the same region earlier this year in January when a 5.6 magnitude tremor occurred on the Carlsberg Ridge. At that time, the MMS also reassured the public that, despite the stronger magnitude, the Maldives faced no significant risk.
