Over 260 Maldives Police Officers Trained Abroad, Says Commissioner
Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau revealed that more than 260 officers from the Maldives Police Service have received training opportunities from various foreign institutions.
The remarks were made during the closing ceremony of the 37th Police Initial Training Course held in Addu City, yesterday. Addressing the graduates, Commissioner Shujau underscored the law enforcement authority’s commitment to enhancing the skills and knowledge of its officers through international training and academic programmes.
He attributed these opportunities to the support of the government, expressing gratitude to the current administration for facilitating such initiatives.
“The government’s immense consideration has been instrumental in creating these opportunities,” Shujau said.
The Commissioner urged the newly trained officers to uphold values of integrity, discipline, and professionalism as they begin their careers.
“I implore all of you to maintain your manners and discipline, both on and off duty,” he said, emphasising the importance of these qualities in fostering public trust and professionalism within the force.
Shujau also highlighted ongoing efforts to improve public confidence in the Maldives Police Service, along with enhancements to its skills and infrastructure.
The 37th Initial Training Course saw the graduation of 171 recruits, including 39 female officers. The training is part of broader efforts to strengthen the police force and address the nation’s security needs.
