Over 30 Expats Detained in Immigration Crackdown in Thilafushi
Maldives Immigration has detained over 30 expatriates found to be living and working in violation of regulations in Thilafushi.
An operation aimed at identifying undocumented workers was carried out in the area, with 28 Immigration Officers and 35 Police Officers involved. The operation, which took place yesterday, saw 257 expatriates being checked for compliance with immigration laws.

Out of those inspected, 33 individuals were detained for lacking valid work visas. In addition, 22 expatriates were issued written notices, requiring them to report to the Immigration offices.
Since the start of such operations, more than 5,000 expatriates have been deported for failing to comply with immigration regulations.
