Over 40 International Airlines Now Operating Flights to the Maldives, Ministry Reports

The Maldives is currently served by 44 major international airlines, according to figures published by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment.
The latest Tourism Update, issued on 3 April, highlights that these airlines include leading carriers from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, reinforcing the country’s position as a key global holiday destination.
Tourist arrivals also saw a notable increase, with 647,677 visitors recorded by 2 April. This represents a 5.2 percent rise compared to the same period in the previous year.
The data indicates that the majority of visitors continue to choose tourist resorts for their stay, accounting for 69.4 percent of all arrivals. Guest houses were the second most popular option with 25.2 percent, while city hotels and tourist vessels accounted for the remaining 5.4 percent.
The Ministry reported a total of 1,201 registered tourist accommodation facilities across the country, offering a combined bed capacity of 65,561. Of these, 97.3 percent are currently in operation.
China remains the leading source market for the Maldives, contributing 11.6 percent of total tourist arrivals during this period. Russia follows in second place, with 68,375 visitors, representing 10.6 percent of arrivals.
