Update: Young Man Dies After Fall in Male’ City High-Rise

A young man who suffered severe injuries after falling down the stairwell of a high-rise building in Male’ City’s Machangolhi district has tragically passed away.

This was reported to authorities at around 10:30 am today, according to the Maldives Police Service.

The victim, identified as a 20-year-old Indian national, reportedly fell down the stairwell of a building located in Chaandhanee Magu. The severity of the fall resulted in the young man sustaining critical injuries, prompting an urgent response from emergency services.

Efforts to save the victim led to his swift transfer to the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for immediate medical attention. However, despite the medical team’s best efforts, the young man succumbed to his injuries at 01:40 pm, as confirmed by a hospital spokesperson.

The police investigation has revealed that the young man fell from the ninth floor of the building, tragically plummeting to the ground below.
