Chief Superintendent of Police Ahmed Shifan has revealed that Police officers are set to experience a salary increase starting March 2024.
The Pay Commission had finalised and shared the new pay structure for both the police and Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) a day before the new administration assumed office.
Initially, the President’s Office had announced that the new pay structure would take effect at the beginning of this year. However, due to financial constraints, the implementation of these changes was postponed.
Last night, CSP Shifan conveyed on X that the Finance Ministry has officially communicated to the police force that the pay increment will be in effect from March 1. However, the exact date for the MNDF’s pay increment remains unclear.
It is worth noting that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, during his presidential campaign, had pledged to double the salary of both police and MNDF officers.
