The Maldives Police Service (MPS) marked its 92nd anniversary with a flag hoisting ceremony held in Malé and across various atolls.
In Malé, the ceremony took place at the MPS headquarters, the Shaheed Hussain Adam Building, while similar flag-raising events were organised at police stations nationwide.
The ceremony, which occurred at midnight on 28 March, was officiated by the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, alongside the Commissioner of Police, Ali Shujau. Following the flag hoisting, a special prayer was offered, and the pledges were recited.
The MPS was founded in 1932 with the enactment of the ‘Police Service Act’. Over the years, it has undergone significant reforms, particularly through the implementation of laws that have enabled the police to operate independently.
