Police Confirm Vehicles Destroyed in Compliance with Law

The police clarified that the vehicles in a widely circulated video, showing officers discarding motorbikes from a flatbed trailer at their Male’ City tow yard, were scheduled for destruction according to the law.

Concerns have been raised online about whether the police were destroying valuable private property over minor infractions. In response, the police have clarified that these vehicles were scheduled for destruction in accordance with relevant laws.

The police stated that the vehicles were brought from Hulhumale’ for destruction. The video, which has recently gained attention, depicts the destruction of vehicles as part of the police’s routine procedures carried out on Friday. 

The items listed for destruction under the law include two-wheeled vehicles and motorbikes (247), four-wheeled vehicles (29), bicycles (223), and an ambulance (1). This information has also been confirmed by the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan.
