Police Forward Guesthouse Robbery Case to Prosecutor General’s Office

The police have submitted a case to the Prosecutor General’s Office involving two individuals accused of robbing a man at a guesthouse.

On July 19, a Maldivian man was reportedly lured to the Yellow Light Stay guesthouse, where he was threatened at knifepoint, stripped, and robbed. The perpetrators, identified as Ahmed Mihad, 44, of G. Allparis, and Rimana Moosa, 39, of G. Ranauraage-Aage, stole cash from the victim’s wallet and coerced him into transferring additional funds from his bank account. The police have completed their investigation and forwarded the case for prosecution.

Robbery and Assault Case Forwarded for Prosecution

Three individuals have been charged in connection with a robbery and assault case. The accused, Aishath from Male’, Masfan Mohamed Reehaan from Male’, and Shafeeq Ibrahim from Seenu Atoll Hithadhoo, are currently in custody.

On July 24, a man was allegedly lured to a location in Machangolhi ward, Male’, where he was threatened at knifepoint, stripped, tortured, and robbed. His mobile phone was seized, and money was transferred from his bank account. Further funds were reportedly withdrawn using his ATM card.

The case has been forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s Office for further action. The premises, Masfan, has previously been linked to criminal activities such as kidnappings and robberies. The suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues.

Woman Arrested Again for Assault with Sharp Object

A 30-year-old woman from Thaa Atoll Thimarafushi has been arrested in Male’ City for assault with a sharp object and property damage. This is her second arrest for similar offences.

The Criminal Court has remanded her in custody for 15 days. The woman claims she was at the scene to retrieve her phone and denies the assault charges.

Evidence presented by the police includes a paper cutter knife found in her possession and damage to property. The court noted her previous record of similar offences. Earlier, she was arrested for attacking a sales clerk with a blade. Despite recommendations for inpatient drug rehabilitation, she has not been admitted for treatment due to the lack of a court order from the Drug Court.
