Police Launch Investigation into Alleged Sexual Assault in Malé

The Maldives Police Service has initiated an investigation into an incident involving a father allegedly sexually assaulting two of his daughters and another girl in Malé City.

In a statement issued yesterday, police confirmed that the case, reported in the early hours of the day, involves a 42-year-old Maldivian man.

He is accused of sexually assaulting his two daughters, as well as a third girl, who is a relative. The man has been arrested under a court order as the investigation continues.

Additionally, police revealed on Saturday that they are also investigating a separate case involving a minor.

According to police statistics, 238 cases of sexual misconduct have been reported to authorities so far this year.
