Police Recover Over MVR 19.2 Million in Stolen Items

Male’ Police have recovered items worth over MVR 19.2 million from various cases reported throughout last year, according to statistics released by the force.

The report, which was published, provides insights into the activities of Male’ Frontline Policing, Thilamale’ Police, and the Traffic Police and Road Management for 2024.

A total of 1,653 items were recovered, with an overall value of MVR 19,209,665.50. Among the items recovered were 206 mobile phones valued at MVR 1,983,564.79, and 253 motorcycles worth MVR 11,489,400. In addition, 107 electronic items, amounting to MVR 986,843.42, and 333 goods valued at MVR 551,206.62 were seized. The police also recovered cash totalling MVR 3,582,837.11 across 374 cases, along with 380 other items valued at MVR 615,813.56.

The report also indicated that a total of 5,242 cases were filed last year. These included 2,290 thefts, 2,025 road accidents, 414 robberies, 236 drug-related offenses, and 358 assaults.
