Police Seize Drugs Worth MVR 328 Million Since Last November

Drugs with a street value exceeding MVR 328 million have been confiscated over the past 11 months, according to Police Commissioner Ali Shujau.
Speaking at a press conference at the President’s Office today, Commissioner Shujau disclosed that police operations had resulted in the seizure of 177 kilograms of drugs and over 8,300 bottles and cans of alcohol during this period.
Additionally, law enforcement conducted 155 operations and inspected 12,000 locations. As a result, 900 individuals were detained, of whom 145 were expatriates who have since been deported.
Commissioner Shujau also noted that 335 drug-related cases had been forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s Office for prosecution.
